Part 2 How to deal with exogenous pathogens

Wind blows off water and hurts Qi heat dries off water and hurts Qi as well. Cold freezes causing the congealed blood and thus hurts blood as well as Qi Damp stagnates Qi and hurts blood. Therefore, exogenous pathogenic factors hurt people, in other words, the body cannot adapt to the weather changes causing stagnant Qi and congealed blood. The therapeutic principles of Chinese medicine are unable to separate from the factors of weather changes. The weather changes are unable to separate from the factors of rising and falling earth Qi. Here, I would like to raise a question to the community of scientists. Generally speaking, people think that the high temperature in summer is because the sun is closer to the earth why is it so cold on a high mountain and the higher the colder ? It is closer to the sun, isn’t it ? The hot weather is because the sun attracts the earth heat rising while on a high mountain you are farther away from the earth heat and thus feel cold, though you are closer to the sun. The earth Qi ascends in spring, disperses in summer, restrains in autumn and conceals in winter, so does the Mingmen Hsiang fire (premier fire )accordingly. Sometimes it is cold in summer and warm in winter due to the heaver Qi (weather) does not match the earth Qi people living in it can not avoid getting sick because their Qi –Blood is disturbed At this stage, moxibustion by using a blower is the simplest therapy. No need to go to the emergency room in the midnight. When a baby is crying by using blower, let him/her cry. After crying he/she will sweat After sweating for a while, the fever will be gone. Then he/ she is cured. You can continues your sleep. If you miss the primary time to treat a pathogen it goes deeper in to our body and develops. Without taking a good care of it, it will cost you quite a few days of discomfort.

A pathogen enters our body from exterior to interior. Its paths are not always the same. It takes different paths in different people. So the treatment should be based on diagnosis of yin yang , exterior, interior cold, heat, deficiency and excess.

Wind hurts defense Qi (defense mechanism) which belongs to bladder meridian of Foot –taiyang. The bladder meridian originates form the inner can thus , then ascends to the head, then descends, along the posteri or aspect of the neck, then runs downward and parallel to the vertebral column then enters the posterior aspect of the

Thigh, then descends to the sole and then reaches the toe where it links woth the kidney meridian. If a pathogen enters our body It hurts the bladder meridian first The symptoms include stiff neck. Backache and flaccid feet etc It the pathogen stays in Foot-taiyang, our body heats up to expel the pathogen. Heat has the nature of ascending Thus the blood vessel swells and a headache is produced. The heated defense Qi steaus the blood Qi of Hand-taiyang and thus sweat is produced, This sweat is the heart’s fluid and is glutinous. The defense Qi cannot descend properly because the pathogen stays in it. Then it crows into lung and causing sniffing

It crowds into stomach and causing retching At this stage, if you turn to western medicine, you will be prescribed such as febrifuges, stomach pills, pain killers, pills for reducing high blood pressure, pills for reducing high blood sugar and antibiotics

Is anyone of these curable? If the pathogen is wind, which owe of these is to expel the wind? Is the recovery from a flu because of these medicine or the patient’s own self-healing power? Why are so many people not recovered after taking these medicine for months? The real reason is because of wrong therapy, All these symptoms are called the syndrome of FUIZHI TANG (桂枝湯) in traditional Chinese medicine. It can supplement the defense Qi and harmonize the blood Qi and defense Qi, After the pathogen is expeled, the patient is cured, If the patient is sick agaun in a half day, this means the pathogen is stronger. At this stage, applying accupuncture on G20 and GV16 and giving GUIZHI TANG (桂枝湯) again can be curable. If the patient’s syndrom includes coughing, , HOWPU (厚朴)SINGREN (杏仁) should be added to GUIZHI TANG (桂枝湯) A pathogen hurts the defense Qi causing its shortage. The shortage of defense Qi results in the shortage of oyygen. The serious case is asthma. These are the Biao (secondary) aspect of a disease. As long as the Ben (primary) aspect of a disease which is the pathogen of wind is removed, the Biao (secondary) aspect of a disease is gone. The pathogenic summer-heat also hurts Qi It enters our body and goes from Foot – tai yang . As long as the position and nature of the pathogen are the same, GUIZHI TANG (桂枝湯) is to be used as well. Its exterior symptoms include a the pulse is not slow, not firm but throbbing and rapid or both cun (寸)sections. Of the pulse are large. B abnomal sweating and fright of wind-clod. C .headache and fever hot skin e thirst or cough without thirst f very hot in the afternoon. All these symptoms are like that of deficient yin Because the defense Qi is hurt causing its shortage, The shortage of defense Qi results in the deficient kidney fluid. Though the Biao (secondary). Aspects of diseases are different but the causes of diseases are the same as Qi being hurt, the application of therapies should be the same. However, the transformations of different diseases are not the same. It is not difficult to find the position of a disease in our body, if we master the transformations of a disease and which direction it goes. All the living crentures can not develop medicine science except human beings. But the discovery of Yunnun white medicine (雲南白藥) is the result of following a wounded tiger and finding it cured itself with a special plant Doe a tiger know medicine?

How many specits has been extinct because of human activities ? All the species struggle for existence with all their strength. Human beings has no right to change the animals with uncertain crimes as dengue fever. Bird flu etc and kill them. A lot of money has been consumed in these cruel killings and it turned out to be in effective and accumulated karma to our human beings. Finding out the right knowledge.

Of pathology and co-existing with all the other creatures is a blessing to our mother earth as well as ourselves. We have no right to decide which one should be killed and which one should be living A bird with flu is to be killed. What if a human is sick , should a human with flu be killed? We should not interfere in the nature’s rule. Let the nature screen out the unfit. All these killings done by human beings are ignorant.

A wind-heat pathogen is to be treated with GUIZHI TANG (桂枝湯) If the pathogen does not go out of the skin and stay there. Or a pathogen hurts the skin from outside, which belongs to lung meridian of Hand- tai yin YINQIAO SAN PLUS or reduce (銀翹散加減)is to be used. If the pathogen goes from lung meridian into lung causing dry coughing. SANG JU YIN plus or reduce (桑菊飲加減) is to be used If a pathogen stays in Foot-tai yang long enough causing deficiency symptoms in our body, it will follow the meridian to go down wards At this stage. The heat consumes water causing the malfunction of Qi –Blood exchange. The patient gets slight edema and feel tight in the whole body. The excessive water stores in cells. The pathogen is still in Foot – tai yang GUIZHI TANG plus FULIN , BAIZHU (桂枝湯加茯苓.白朮) is to be used to drain the water and descend Qi The pathogen will be expeled. If the heat pathogen goes into bladder causing difficult urinating or even incapable of passing urine. At this stage, the pathogen stays in meridian as well as bladder. WULIN SAN (五苓散) is to be used to expel the exterior pathogen and drain the urine out of bladder. Some times, incapable of passing urine results in the defense Qi not taking a normal path but being crowed in stomach and causing vomitting even incapable of drinking water WULIN SAN (五苓散) is also to be used but it should be held in mouth for a while, let the medicine melt down to lower energizer slowly. After the urine is passed out , the disease is cured. There is no such term as dialysis in tradition Chinese medicine territory.

Heat pathogens in spring should be prevented with great care. The primary symptoms of a disease caused by a heat pathogen are high fever and sore throat. Later the swollen head around ear develops. Heat pathogens can be found not only in spring but all year round. When using PUJIXIAODU YIN (普濟消毒飲) to treat a heat pathogen , certain rules must be obeyed. a In spring and summer, SHENGMA(升麻) and CHAIHU (柴胡) should be excluded, because the earth Qi ascends in these two seasons. b At the beginning of the disease, the pathogen has not entered into middle energizer, HUANGLIAN (黃蓮) HUANGQIN (黃芩) should be excluded to avoid inducing the pathogen entering middle energizer In spring 2005, a patient Mrs Luo with this disease had stayed in a very famous hospital for 15 days without any improvemene. After being prescribed this medicine, in 5 days time she was cured This kind of swelling caused by a heat pathogen does not belong to tumor family They are Qi swelling caused by a cold or a heat pathogen Thus, the therapy for caring an abscess (blood illness ) does not apply. Pounded daffodil roots can be used to apply on the infected arch and leave some holes for ventilation wait until abscesses as big as a chestnut appear on the skin 3 HUANG 2 XIZNG SAN (三黃二香散) is to be applied on the infected area to substitute daffodil roots. Otherwise, the abscesses will cause unbearable pain. Be carful with this disease, it is fatal and caused quick mass fatality in history There has been a few case of winter heat pathogen with light symptoms recently and were cured soon. I am worried about this kind of heat pathogen. Be careful. When a swelling around the ears is seen , don’t treat it as a flu If reducing temperature is invariably the treatment and the heat pathogen goes deeper into our body, it becomes very hard to deal with and ofter fatal.

It is frightening when a heat pathogen goes from foot-tai yang into Hand –tai yang and hurts the blood, At the beginning. Qi and blood are hurt by a heat pathogen, YUNU JIAN (玉女煎) is to be used to expel the heat but , NIUXI (牛膝) should be excluded and substitute SHUDI (熟地) for SHENGDI (生地) If the heat pathogen has all gone into blood the patient will vomit blood, thus, be called hemorrhage dengue fever. YINQIZO SAN plus XIJIAODIHUANG TANG (銀翹散加犀角地黃湯) is to be used in no time to clear the heat in the blood If unfortunately, the heat is not treated properly in time and the vomitted blood turns pink and watery, the patient will die of the incurable vampire dengue fever (噬血性登革熱). In between these 2 stages, what can a doctor do ? Except using above metioned 2 medicines, a doctor must take kidney fluid, cranial nerves etc into account. If the cranial nerves is hurt causing a mental disorder phenomenon, ANGONGNIUHUANG WAN (安宮牛黃丸) is to be used in no time to eliminat the heat, because it has been a meningitis, At this crucial time, the patients life or death is up to GOD though the doctor is to do his/ her best.

If the heat pathogen has gone into the stomach meridian of Foot – yangming the Qi – blood is hurt badly, the symptoms as sweating profusely, a substantial pulse very thirsty and high fever appear quickly user GINSENG BAI HU TANG (人蔘白虎湯) to eliminate the heat. The natural GINSENG BAI HU TANG (人蔘白虎湯) which is watermelon can be used to relieve the the emergency . Don’t wait until a blood diarrhoea qppears, the patient is halfway to the funeral, If the patient turns to western medicine and a blood transfusion is applied, he/she is ready for the funeral. A blood transfusion at this stage will cause a more severe hemorrhage because the heat is not eliminated and the leaks get bigger. When a heat pathogen goes into stomach viscera, the passage of intertine is hot and dry, the stool gets hard and thus constipation develops TIAOWEICHENG QI TANG (調胃承氣湯) is to be used in no time to expel the heat. Otherwise, the excrement toxicosis symptom as mental disorder phenomenon appears, even a brain tumor develops for the worse, At this stage, it can not be cured in 3 or 5 day’s time

A wind-cold pathogen hurts people and goes deep inside the body easily. At the primary stage of its entering Yang ming , The exterior pathogen in Taiyang is quite strong and the exterior symptoms are not gone. The inside heat develops with The symptom of thirst, Don’t take it as a heat pathogen GUIZHI plus GEGEN TANG (杜枝加葛根湯) is to be used quickly otherwise, Qi and blood are both hurt and a spasm of the back muscles develops. This kind of spasm is called soft spasm (柔痙) when the back muscles shrink causing the spine to bend like a bow and the center of the spine rises to a height of a hand the patient will die In summer 2005, there was a news on the newspaper that 2 sisters died of this disease in a few days one before and one after. What did the western doctors do? A thorough modern technology examination was arranged first, then But the sisters died in no time If the pathoger has gone into Yangming and with the symptoms as fever, diarrhea decaying stool with a stench GEGENQINLIAN TANG (葛根芩蓮湯) is to be used quickly to expel the heat in Yangming meridian, Heat has a nature of ascending Thus vomitting may appear and BANXIA (半夏) and SHENGJIANG (生薑) are to be added to GEGENQINLIAN TANG (葛根芩蓮湯) At tis seage, the exterior symptoms are to be ignored Dealing with the interior pathogen is more important. If all the pathogen has gone into Yangming the symptoms as sweating profusely, a substantial pulse, and severe thirst can be seen GINSENGBAIHU TANG (人蔘白虎湯) is to be used as well If the pathogen stays in the upper part of the stomach , the symptom as glutted chestache appears DAXIANXIONG TANG (大陷胸湯) XIAOXIANXIONG TANG (小陷胸湯) or DAXIANXIONG WAN(大陷胸丸) is to be used as to different seriousness. If there is an unknown place. Two books “Catastropher in medical field” (醫林浩劫) and “How can you depend on a doctor for your health” (依醫倚特) written by the anthor of this article an be reffered to

A cold pathogen hurts the blood. If the cold stays in blood, all the pores on skin are shut like doors and windows are shut in winter. Cold condenses Qi causing lack of oxygen and the result of yawning Don’t wait until a backache, a lumbago or pain all over the the body appear. Then turn to the western medicine doctors. They will only pay attention to high blood pressure and high blood sugar etc but not to the key point Many cases are died of their ignorance At this seage, MAHUAG TANG (麻黃湯) is to be us3d quickly. Don’t wait until our body functions producing hent to resist the cold . The heat is trapped in the body without outlet then and thus, a high fever develops If febrifuges is given at this stage, more serious is the disease. If an intravenous injection is applied , more cold is produced. There was a case died of this situation in hospital in 3 days with the report “ The virus is too fierce, and the cause of death unknown” If the wind-cold hurts the blood causing similar symptoms but the patient is agitated DAQINGLONG TANG (大青龍湯) is to be used at this stage,

It is rainy in winter and spring. The cold-damp Qi prevails. The symptoms of a disease caused by cold-damp are like that of a disease caused by cold . but clear nasal drips and white phlegm with bubbles can be seen .XIAOQINGLONG TANG (小青龍湯) is to be used quickly to expel the cold-damp. If the exterior Foot –taiyang is hurt as well as the nterior foot-shaoyin kidney meridian, the kidney fluid ascends instead of descends. “Thus the nose drips clean water and sneezes a lot. MAHUANG FUZIXIXIN TANG (麻黃附子細辛湯) is to be used to solve the exterior as well as the interior syndrome. Don’t mistake these two syndromes.

At the primpay stage of a cold enttring yangming. GEGEN TANG (葛根楊) is to be used. Be carful with it and treat it quickly. Or a spasm of the back muscles develops, and is called hard spasm (剛痙) in traditional Chinese medicine field. If the cold is full trapped in Yangming, the treatment is like that of wind or heat, No matter the pathogen is a wind, heat or cold, the Gallbladder Meridian of Foot – shaoyang may be hurt. The common symptoms include dry throat, blurred vision, bitter mouth, fullness and discomfore of the chest, loss of appetite, retching etc. If the symptom as a sudden guse of fever but feeling no cold appears, it is at the beginning stage that the pathogen enters shaoyang, CHAIHUGUIZHI TANG (柴胡桂枝湯) is to be used. If the symptom as coming and going of chills and fevers appears, XIADCHAI HU TANG (小柴胡湯) is to be used. If the symptom as constipation appears, DACHAI HU TANG (大柴胡湯) is to be used to expel the pathogen. Don’t wait untol the pathogen enters liver or gallbladder and hepatitis cholecystitis, cirrhosis devclop, it will be too difficult to deal with it.

For those who are interested in regimen the author also teach authentic traditional Chinese regimen to the public at different venues. Taking a year or so, gaining the real knowledge of regimen, isn’t a great delight in life?
